Youth Engagement Training

Currently, Leave No Veteran Behind is a contractor with Chicago Public Schools where our Veterans provide safety services in underserved neighborhoods. Every day our Veterans work as mentors and community watchers in schools and community

centers to improve the outcomes of our youth. Veterans receive industry-specific training which allows them to successfully work in these environments. Specifically, all Veterans are provided the Handle With Care Behavior Management System® training.

By receiving this coveted training, Veterans who are interested in working with youth are able to use this knowledge for employment in youth related fields. Handle With Care is the world-renowned leader in crisis intervention and behavior management training services to:

  • Human services staff

  • Healthcare providers

  • Community and juvenile programs

  • Families

  • Educators and schools

Handle With Care training is a federally approved vendor and is in full compliance with:

  • Children’s Healthcare Act of 2000;

  • Health and Human Services Departmental Appeals Board rulings;

  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations;

  • Federal case law;

  • No Child Left Behind Act;

  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act, and,

  • Including various other federal and state laws.

Safety Services

Currently, Leave No Veteran Behind has multiple contracts providing safety related services in the Chicagoland area. Part of our training regimen includes 20 hours of unarmed security training to Veterans selected in our transitional employment program. This training allows Veterans to receive their Permanent Employment Registration Card (PERC). This card allows the Veteran to work in security related fields anywhere in the state of Illinois.

This training provides our Veteran clients the ability to find flexible employment while they search for long-term employment. Safety services is a natural fit for the skills

that Veterans learned in the military. The goal of this training, however, is to primarily provide an unemployed Veteran an opportunity for quick employment that will help stabilize their financial situation or to provided added income while they receive an education in their field of interest. If a Veteran is interested in safety/security as a

career, Leave No Veteran Behind has established relationships with firms that will provide training and long-term employment opportunities as well.
